Creativity Guide
Urban theorists along with other knowledgeable contemporary
observers are telling us that modern civilization is in the throes of a
fundamental and monumental change. This global transition is moving
in nanoseconds toward a world where the most valued skills are those
of the creative mind. Imagination and innovation are becoming the
stuff of success. If we are going to sing the song as purveyors of the
most creative endeavors known to humankind - the arts - then we
must dance the dance. Here are three hands-on, workshop-style,
retreat-like sessions you and your organization may find helpful.
Mission, Vision, & Strategic Planning
Creative Team Building
This is all about dreams and there's nothing more creatively demanding than making dreams come true. Too
often, we think the work is done when the dream is dreamt. Developing and/or focusing mission, creating the
vision, and completing a meaningful and functional strategic plan is a strenuous process. I'll tailor this
workshop/retreat to meet your current needs whether its nudging an existing plan, energizing or re-energizing
board, staff, and other stakeholders to climb back on the bandwagon, or starting from scratch.
If the management of any arts organization is to be as creative as the art it manages, then we have to help
management get more creative. I'll guide boards, staff, or board and staff, to not just get in and out of
boxes, but to also work on a variety of shapes and practice getting on and off the same page at the same
time. Warning: You can't expect innovation without change. If you want to freeze your organization in time,
don't call. If you want to be what you once were, read a history book. But if you want to begin functioning
not just as a team but as a creative team, then this is the workshop for you.
Developing Personal Creativity
Forget about team. This is all about the individual "me" and how to make "me" a more creative thinker,
creative doer, creative being. Whether it's for your art, for your amusement, or just for the hell of it, I'll guide
you through the mental maze of personal discovery. I can work with groups and I'm also available for
one-on-one sessions.
